A Not So Average Christian Family - Living, Loving, And Learning Together
Jul 30

We call the Summer months here our birthday season…because it’s the season in which we have had the most births! We have one child born in June, one child born in July (although he was due in August), 2 children born in August, and our newest blessing is due to arrive this month…and in case you missed it, it’s August! :D The other two children were born in the Spring and Fall.

So here is part one…

Our oldest child is now 14! WOW time sure flies! She’s such a blessing to our family. Isn’t she beautiful! :gift

And our oldest son is 9! Another one growing up too fast for my liking, but it’s so awesome to see him grow into such a nice young gentlemen with a heart for the Lord! Here he is with one of his favorite people…his little brother! They are just SO special to each other with all these sisters around!

Stay tuned for Birthday Season Part 2, at the end of August!

The good news is any sort of early induction is totally off the table as far as my OB is concerned since today’s visit went very well unless that is something drastically changes between now and my due date. Although if I go past my due date by a couple of days or so, and haven’t delivered I will likely be induced based on my diabetes.

OK so today’s visit went like this:
u/s and biophysical profile showed baby to be 6lbs 6oz…so worst case he’s thinking about 9lbs going to my due date. It can be off either way, but he said he feels that even being a pound or two off either way will be fine. I agree! The profile showed everything to be normal from what he can tell although I don’t know what constitutes normal, so I’m just going with what he said.  We also got a 2nd confirmation that baby is a girl, and my due date from this u/s (although he said he normally doesn’t even pay attention to that at this point) showed me to be 36w 6d, so only 2 days off from what I actually am…so everything is on track!

Me stuff:
I’m 1cm and minus 3 station, but I forgot to ask about effacement. Baby is still bouncy in other words. My fundal height is measuring 44 weeks, and he said that was his major reason for concern last time as I was already measuring 41, but apparently it’s just me. My blood pressure had come down and was 136/73 today and as for my weight I’d actually lost 1 pound since last time and have gained 11lbs overall. Blood sugars are perfect overall, I only had 1 in the last 2 weeks that was 192 but the rest were all below 150.

I did test positive for GBS, but that really doesn’t matter because we always plan for antibiotics during labor since I’ve been positive with some previous babies,  I just rarely get them because labor is too fast, even the inductions I’ve had. I never could figure out why when they induced me they didn’t do those first, then induce, but that’s neither here nor there I don’t guess. With such fast labors, no fevers, and no prolonged ROM etc, I’m told risk is very low anyway. What is does mean though is a 48 hour stay vs 24 hours, but that’s OK with me.

So there it is for what it’s worth. The Lord answered our prayers! Today I’m relieved and thankful for the good visit! I’ll go back next Tuesday at 4pm.

ABBOTSFORD, British Columbia (AP) - A Romanian immigrant has given birth to her 18th child in British Columbia, making her the province’s most prolific mother in 20 years.

Proud dad Alexandru Ionce said Saturday that his 44-year-old wife, Livia, gave birth on Tuesday. Their daughter Abigail weighed in at seven pounds, 12 ounces.

“We never planned how many children to have. We just let God guide our lives, you know, because we strongly believe life comes from God and that’s the reason we did not stop the life,” said Alexandru Ionce.

The couple immigrated to Canada from Romania in 1990 and now live in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Their 17 other children range in age from 20 months to 23 years old.

Ionce said he did not know if the couple would have more children. The family now has 10 girls and eight boys.

“We would have liked a boy to be even,” he said. “We thank God all of them are healthy and happy.”

Ionce said the family has received calls from Germany, Romania and England, as well as from media outlets across Canada.

The whole family looks so full of joy and very blessed!

Getting SO excited! Like I haven’t been already, but more so now than ever! All the babies due at our church have arrived safe and sound, so now the only one left in this crop of new blessings is me. We have a couple of other ladies expecting that we know about so far, but they aren’t due until the end of the year/beginning of the next.

Tomorrow I have an OB appointment, and my oldest girls are going to come with me and the younger children are staying with my mother in law, so we can have a ladies afternoon so to say. I’m having an ultrasound so I know they’ll be very excited to get to see their new sister before she actually arrives. All our children are a blessing to me, but most especially them, so I’m hoping I can make a special afternoon for us, before things get much more hectic around here for awhile! Tonight we are up doing more cleaning and organizing, to which they are happy to help. We won’t be staying up too late though, well at least not them. I don’t sleep too well right now, but I figure the Lord is preparing me for those late nights!

I got a baby shower card once with our 3rd child I think that contained a scripture…it doesn’t apply to babies per say, but SO TRUE in regards to a new little life in the home.

1 Corinthians 15:51

Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed…

Last night I was having some contractions and other “signs” too personal to mention that labor will happen soon (soon as in the next few weeks LOL), although not imminent. Well that’s all for now, and I’ll update tomorrow evening when I get back!

With 27 days left (give or take) until we have a new member of our household, we’ve been diligently working into our new school year and have made a great start! I’ve got 10 more school days of lessons plans prepared, so our officially “break” will start the 2nd full week of August! We plan to take off from our studies for about 8 weeks or so except for continuing phonics daily with our youngest student while we adjust to our new baby, and then get back at it, finishing up our studies as planned in May of next year. I like working our “Summer break” this way vs coinciding with the public school’s break. It will be much cooler during that time here and we can enjoy more outside activities instead of just enjoying the HOT! :clap

We’re just so honored to be home educating parents! I highly recommended it! :D As I was reflecting over our last year, I realized just how much of my children, their interests, etc. I had missed. I’m just feeling so blessed today that my husband prayerfully decided to pursue this for our children’s education. It’s made us all so much closer as a family!

Thank you honey for listening to and following the Lord’s leading!
