As most of you know I have type 2 diabetes that I control with diet, although before I wasn’t controlling it too well.

Well I am HAPPY to report since about mid January, I’ve not had one higher than normal reading!! :cloud9: Rejoice with me, and I’m praying that once the majority of this weight is gone, it will not be an issue anymore at all.

I had a nice workout at the gym this morning, but I’m still trying to figure out how to best schedule my time since it’s limited there. So I’ll be working this week trying to figure that out. I do need to walk every day for sure, but I’m only getting in 30 minutes and I’d like an hour. I guess I will go back to my WATPs DVD and try and get 30 minutes at home done each day.

I need that other 30 minutes at the gym for strength training, but more often that not I’m oversleeping and getting there about 15 minutes late. So I guess that is my new goal for the week. To get there at 6:00 a.m. on the dot!

I hope you all have a wonderfully healthy week!

My husband Jack as finally started blogging his poetry on his website. I love his poetry, as it’s always something right from his heart. He has poems aboutĀ  life, death, and everything in between swirling around in his head. He’s written hundreds of them over the years, some of which he’s written for me that I’ll always treasure.

He’s posted 2 so far for the world to see and since everyone has their own tastes where the written word is concerned, I’m sure there are quite a few that will enjoy them very much.

So for the official unveiling

I had almost forgotten today was the day to measure myself, and was worried because I didn’t feel I did very well this month, BUT I was pleasantly surprised! ? :applause:

I guess I am “melting” from the top to the bottom. ?

As always everything is noted as

starting/last month/current

Weight?

267/235/230

5lbs gone this month!

Measurements?

Chest 55/46/43

Waist 50/43/40

Hips 55/50/50

Thighs 25/21/20.5

Calves 16/16/16 What’s up with my calves! ?

So this month I lost a total of 7 inches!

To date I have lost 37lbs and 36 inches, so if you look at the big picture (no pun intended? ) I guess I’m right on track!

I changed a few things at Spark People and it gave me new goals, so I thought I’d share them.

Nutrition?

  • Calories 1200-1550 per day
  • Carbs 135-232
  • Fat 27-60
  • Protein 30-136

Fitness

  • 30 minutes a day of cardio 6 days per week
  • Burn 272 calories a day 6 days per week = 1630 calories

Following those guidelines it says I should loose 2lbs a week and reach my goal in February 2008!

Those goals will automatically change though and are evaluated again each time you loose 10lbs or so.? The carbs I think are a bit high for my current body weight so I will limit those to the minimum number or a bit less. After all I have plenty of body weight (fat) that can be used for fuel right now. ?
For my fitness I’m doing 30 minutes 6 days a week on the treadmill. 15 minutes at 3.0 MPH and 15 mintes at 3.0 MPH on a 5% incline. I’m also doing (at least) 1 fifteen minute mile with my Walk Away The Pounds DVD. According to their calories burned calculator doing that 6 days a week will burn 333 which will actually put me over my daily/weekly goal. I don’t guess that is a bad thing is it? ?

I was lifting weights every day (upper body one day and lower body the next) as well but because of limited time to exercise each day I’ve decided to drop that down to Tuesday and Thursday only and do both an upper and lower body workout on those days for awhile and see how that goes. I do have a few weights around here if I feel I need a little umph!

OK ? :excited: to get to work on these goals and move forward in my journey to healthy!
